During his studies, he worked at the Château Smith Haut Lafitte and Château Malescot Saint Exupery in Margaux. After that, he looked for other experiences and worked at the Quinta Sardonia in Ribera del Duero (Spain), Robert Craig in Napa Valley (USA) and Stuart Wines Company in Heathcote (Australia).

In 2011, at the age of 27, he returned to Portugal, where he started working with Dirk Niepoort. Though young, his experience around the world, passion and dedication made him the key man of Dirk, at Quinta de Nápoles in the Douro region. He worked hard to sculpt
delicious wines like the Batuta, elegant as the Coche, with character as Robustus and Redoma. But also the Turris and all the other projects he has grabbed, from Dão to Vinhos Verdes. Carlos partially left Niepoort in mid-2018, continuing to work with Dirk in the Vinhos Verdes project.

In 2018, he returned to the origins, creating its own project called Imperfect Wines. Carlos is from the Dão region, knows very well the potential of the region and has long dreamed up the wines he wants to make there:
“I love fresh, mineral, complex, deep whites and red wines with a hint of rusticity, forest and spices. I believe that the region of Dão is perfect for this type of wine, always thinking about the potential of aging, of whites and reds made by Eng. Cardoso de Vilhena in the Dão study center, a world reference, at the level of the best nectars of our world, very close to heaven … yes that’s what I want to do!”

WHY?

Vinhos Imperfeitos Carlos Raposo is born from a huge desire to create unique and high quality wines. Using the best that Nature gives us, our goal is simply to translate it into a glass of wine.

“I’m just another lover of all the magical things the earth can share with us. My philosophy is to respect nature’s product and try to represent in each bottle the purity it gives us each year. ”Carlos Raposo

“The perfection of everything in life is made up of little imperfections, or on the hand, little imperfections together built perfection!” Carlos Raposo
